LIHTC New Manager Training Series: Assets, The Student Rule, and Certifications
This five-part, interactive training series is designed to provide new property management professionals with a comprehensive understanding of Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program compliance from a national perspective. Participants will gain foundational knowledge of LIHTC program requirements, eligibility determination, program rules, and compliance standards — equipping them with the tools necessary to manage LIHTC properties with confidence and accuracy.
Day 3 of our series focuses on Assets, the LIHTC Student Rule and differentiating various types of certifications. We’ll cover the student rule requirements, exceptions, and compliance pitfalls. We’ll also cover asset inclusions and exclusions in addition to how HOTMA changed the treatment of assets. Participants will also review certification types — Initial, Annual, Interim, and Unit Transfers — and learn how to navigate occupancy changes like household composition shifts and unit transfers while maintaining program compliance.
